As a part of being admitted to the university, your transcripts should be evaluated by Metropolitan State so a Degree Audit Report is generated for you. You will want to:
- Login to access an Interactive Degree Audit Report (DARS) under Grades and Transcripts. If twenty business days has past since you received your admissions letter, contact records.registration@metrostate.edu to request your report.
- Note whether your DARS report indicates you are required to complete the Placement Assessments. If required, schedule your assessments by accessing the Testing Schedule.
- Use the DARS report and the General Education & Liberal Studies(GELS) Guide to select courses that interest you and satisfy requirements in your program on the List of Course form.
- Check Course Descriptions for prerequistes courses and incorporate these courses into your plan. Prerequisite courses are often the first of a series that builds on the previous content that was covered in class.
- Familiarize yourself with the Choose and Declare Your Major section of this orientation and add the courses not yet completed to satisfy requirements in your program to your List of Courses form.
- Use the information above and Long-Term Academic Plan form to enter courses you "tentatively" plan to take to ensure that prerequisites are met and taken in their proper sequence.
- Balance your course load and study time with the rest of your life. Plan a minimum of 3 hours per credit per week outside of class. For example, if you are taking 4 credits, schedule a minimum of 12 hours per week for study.
