A major or program focus is the part of your education in which you typically follow your interests and develop your skills at an advanced or professional level.
Some majors prepare you for specific careers, like accounting or social work.
Other majors help you develop interests and skills in subjects that might apply to a wide range of careers or fields, such as psychology, communications, or history.
However, in many cases choosing a major is not the same thing as choosing a career. Many employers may only require that you have a college degree.
The Support Links located on the right are designed to help you explore your interests and skills, explore a wide variety of majors, fields, careers, as well as explore how to go about choosing a major or focus. For example, you have the option of choosing either a structured major that has required courses in a sequence to complete that builds on the content that you learn; Or design your own program that fits your interests and goals through an Individualized Program. Careful planning can provide you the opportunity to double major and/or incorporate a minor that will complement your academic program.
