Success in college requires strong English and math skills. Your Degree Audit Report (DARS) will indicate whether or not you need to complete your Placement Assessments. If a Placement Assessment is not required, skip this section of Planning. If a Placement Assessment is required, read on.
Your assessment results offer important insight into your current reading, writing and math skills and can help you select appropriate courses. Completing your writing and math courses early in your program will help you lay a good foundation that you can build on. Completing your placement assessments will provide important insight into your current skills, help you plan your first term, and may allow you to:
- Waive the first-level writing (through essay writing assessment) or math course
OR
- Identify some developmental courses that will help you lay a solid foundation in reading, writing and math to ensure your college success.
