The Minnesota Transfer Curriculum is equivalent to the ten goal areas outlined in Metropolitan State's general education requirement. Courses approved for a goal area at another Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) institution will apply to the same goal area at Metropolitan State.
General Education Liberal Studies (GELS) requirements may be met by transfer courses or by courses completed at Metropolitan State.
Students who have completed the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum, or who have earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from a Minnesota community college or state university, do not need to complete general education requirements at Metropolitan State. However, these students must meet the university's liberal studies requirement.
This general education exemption does not apply to the Associate of Science (A.S.), Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) or other associate degrees.
