Before Registration

Before Registration

1.  Have your official transcript(s) sent, if you attended other college(s).

2.  Take your placement test or request a waiver based on previous college coursework.

3.  Check your academic placements.

You will need to know your academic placements to select the right course for you. Course numbers that begin with a "0" (for example ADEV 0952 or Eng 0950) are pre-college level.  If you placed into one or more of these courses, you must register and pass these courses before you are able to continue on with the appropriate college level courses.

Your placement test results will indicate scores for Reading (ADEV), English and Math.  If you took the ESL version of the test, your scores may include ESOL Reading, Writing, Listening and Vocabulary.  If you tested into a math, please check your degree program to determine whether a math course is required for you.

4.  Determine your courseload.

5.  Check out the various programs and degrees that NHCC offers.  Your chosen degree determines what courses you take.

6.  Look through the class schedules to familiarize yourself with what we offer.

7.  Check prerequisites to courses.
