The university is mandated by federal law, outlined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 AKA as the Buckly Admendment, to protect the privacy of student education records. These rights include, but are not limited to:
- The right to "inspect and review" your institutional records.
- The right of "an opportunity for a hearing to challenge the content" of your school records" and
- The right of privacy for your student records.
In addition to these rights, you have a right to:
- Freedom to learn, of expression, of association
- Accurate information about requirements, academic standing
- Academic evaluation solely based of performance; review work and have it returned;
- Confidentiality of your records as defined by state and federal law; only "directory information" can be released without a student's permission, and
- Non-discrimination in academic opportunity
