Registration Holds

Academic Probation

Students on academic probation must attend a Success Workshop and then meet with their advisor to talk about their program and receive written permission to register. Your advisor's name and contact information is located in the portal under "Contact Information."

Address Hold

Contact records.registration@metrostate.edu or call 651-793-1212 to update your address or telephone number.

Assessment Hold

Diagnostic Assessments need to be completed before you can register for your first term. If you have questions, check out Frequently Asked Questions, Assessment Schedule or Home Page.

Financial Management Hold

Students are required to be current with their account at Metropolitan State before they can register. If you have questions about your account, contact the financial.management@metrostate.edu and include your name, student ID and telephone number or call 651-793-1881.

Business Online Sections

Students accepted into the Business Online program may register for sections numbered 70 or 71. Metropolitan State actively manages the number of online "seats" reserved for Business Online students. Sections not numbered 70 or 71 are not reserved, and are opened to the general student population that includes Business Online students.

Closed/Full Courses

In most cases, students can only enroll in a full course with written permission from a department chair. Even then, it is highly unlikely you will get permission to register for the course. Limiting the number of enrollments helps ensure the quality of the instruction.

Credit Limit

Students need permission from their advisor to enroll for more than 16 credits per term.

Orientation Hold

Students are required to complete orientation in their first term before they can register for courses their second term. If you have questions, contact records.registration@metrostate.edu or call 651-793-1212.

Other Holds

Students may email records.registration@metrostate.edu for any other hold concerns.
